I thought people only die once!!

我以為人一次

Recently 3 people, old and as young as 7 years old had passed away in our church within 4 weeks, which mean the pastor has to give 3 funeral sermons in 5 weeks, among which 2 of them were only a week apart.

One night, at dinner table, I made a comment that:” Poor pastor has to make

up a sermon for funeral one week after another, but that’s his job though”.

My husband said: “ Ya, and he is not like most of ministers who would take Mondays as a day off, ( A minister ~pastor’s job though is 24 /7 but busiest time suppose to be Sunday , that’s why a lot of them take Monday off.) He only let his wife answer Phone calls on Fridays afternoons.

I said: "Last time when Oma (Dutch for grandma), die; which was long time ago, we have to go to the old minister’s house and tell him the news so he  can prepare the sermon. It was his day off, he was painting his house, and we felt bad but can’t be help."

As soon as I finished, my 9 years old son said:

“I thought people only die once”.

I heard it and could not bring to sense what my son’s comment really mean. But the more I "chew "on the word, the more I realised what I had said has created an extraordinary, abnormal phenomenal for human beings!

OOOOOPS, my apology: I shouldn't have used the word: "Last time"

ESPECIALLY followed by " oma die", as if oma die again.

After all ,normally people do die once, what I was trying to said: was:

Last time when we have to tell the minister was when Oma die, and it was on his day off. we felt bad but can't be help.

From this conversation I have to admit my son is actually pretty smart and  quick to respond, despite he does have learning difficulty and sometimes: a handful.
